Bure Valley Railway
Trains run every month and a daily service is provided between April and October.
Between two and four trains run each way per day depending on time of year. Journey
time is 45 minutes. Check the Bure Valley Railway website for train times and fares
(see link on links page).
Guest Engineering 2-6-4T No.1 Wroxham Broad. Originally built as a 2-6-2 with an
internal diesel engine and called Tracey Jo. It was later rebuilt as a steam engine
and converted to a 2-6-4 by Winson Engineering.
Winson Engineering ZB class 2-6-2s No.6 Bickling Hall and No.7 Spitfire. Tender steam
locomotives based on the Indian Railways ZB design.
Winson Engineering ZB class 2-6-2T No.8 Thunder. Chassis built to same design as
Nos.6 & 7 but with a body based on the Vale of Rheidol Railway locomotives. Assembled
in the Aylsham Workshop.
Winson Engineering ZB class 2-6-4T No.9 Mark Timothy. Built as an oil fired locomotive
but rebuilt and converted to coal firing by Alan Keef Limited. The body based on
the Leek and Manifold Railway locomotives.
The railway also has three diesel locomotives, No3 2nd Air Division USAAF (a Bo-Bo
diesel hydraulic) and two small 0-4-0s.
The Bure Valley Railway has a selection of air braked bogie coaches with electric
lighting including brake, generator and wheelchair accessible coaches together with
two 4-wheel passenger brake vans and a selection of maintenance and goods wagons.
